The solar market's development mainly hinges upon two sectors: roofing system and power plant. To date, the solar market development highly depends on government subsidy policies. As countries with mature solar markets begin cutting solar subsidies and cease to subsidize large solar systems, roofing system is likely to set the future roadmap for solar market growth. Once the solar power market reaches grid parity, household solar system will become an even more popular choice. Given that the solar roof system is a B2C market, brand awareness, warranty, maintenance, customized service and easy monitor system will become crucial to solar system development around the world.

During the workshop, EnergyTrend analysts will share their case studies on solar roof trends and figures from Germany, Japan, United States and China. Key solar makers from Taiwan and China and policy makers will discuss the possibility of installing roof system on Taiwanese factories in China, with focuses on China's supporting policies of central and local governments, grid connection and electricity price.

SNEC 6th (2012) International Photovoltaic Power Generation Conference & Exhibition [SNEC (2012) PV POWER EXPO] will be held in May in Shanghai, China. It is hosted by Chinese Renewable Energy Society (CRES), Shanghai Science & Technology Development and Exchange Center (SSTDEC), Shanghai Federation of Economic Organizations (SFEO), Shanghai New Energy Industry Association (SNEIA), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and jointly organized by 12 international associations and organizations including Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA) and Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association (TPVIA)

Since its successful inception in 2007, SNEC has quadrupled its size just two years later, the 5th Annual SNEC (2011) PV POWER EXPO, broke the record of PV exhibitions previously held in Asia with a space of 150,000 sq. meters and 1,838 exhibitors from 91 countries and regions worldwide. 38% of the exhibitors came from outside China. SNEC PV POWER EXPO has grown to be the most influential international PV show not only in China, but also in Asia or even the world. This year, SNEC expects a new record high of over 2000 exhibitors and 200,000 sq. meters space.
