Overview

In light of the popularization of micro LED applications, LEDinside predicts that micro LED revenue will reach up to US$4.2 billion in 2023. Roger Chu oversees the Green Energy Business Unit of TrendForce Corp., and specializes in market research on the LED industry, including end-product makers ranging from LED components, lighting, backlight to manufacturers. Additionally, he also handles the research on batteries in the Green Energy Business Unit. Mr.Chu once was an analyst at DRAMeXchange. He also worked for Hua Nan Securities as an analyst and Qunmao Management Consulting Company as a management trainee. His previous research scope covered DRAM, packaging and testing as well as other electronic industries.Mr.Chu graduated from the Graduate Institute of Finance, Chaoyang University of Technology.

Matthew Gerber

Matt has over 30 years of global high technology experience concentrated in the computing technology markets, and is currently a Rohinni board member and its CEO. Prior to Rohinni, Matt was a board member and CEO at Digital Fortress, a Seattle based provider of hybrid cloud and colocation services; a board member and EVP at 2nd Watch, one of Amazon Web Services largest global business partners; a board member and CEO at IT-Lifeline, one of Amazon Web Services first business partners; and a board member and CEO at SprayCool, a provider of thermal management technologies for high performance computing applications. Matt is currently Board Chairman at TeraGo Networks, a publicly traded cloud, communications and data center company, and a board member at Pearson Packaging, a leading robotics packaging machinery manufacturer, and a board member at Perpetua, an electronics thermal management company. Matt holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from Hofstra University.

Yasuyuki Sakamoto joined Toray Engineering Co.,Ltd. in 2008
Responsible for the inspection equipment “Applications” such as UI, useful function on AOI and ”How to detect the target defects” in various of customers and process.
Since then, engaged in marketing activities for Optoelectronic devices, Power devices, MEMS sensors, mainly for inspection equipment for semiconductors "INSPECTRA series" as well.

ITRI’s Micro LED development progress for signage, gaming and AR applications

Dr. Y. H. FANG received his PHD degree (2008) at National Taiwan University. He has been in ITRI since 2008. In this period, he focused on the topic of GaN substrate growth / UV LED on GaN substrate / GaN on Si for power device. For now, he is in charge of micro-LED team in ITRI and focusing on the technology of micro-LED from epitaxy, micro-chip process, mass transfer, high speed inspection, and system design. The micro-LED team led by him is building up the micro-LED platform applied for signage, vehicle, and AR application.

Zhong Tianrui is the technical lead of the light & display measurement product technical expert group, mainly responsible for the technical consultation of light & display measurement products for Greater China. He graduated from Software Engineering of South China University of Technology in China in 2010 and worked on R&D of high-precision spectrometer system in 2014-2017. He joined Konica Minolta in 2017.

Dr. Eugene Chow

Micro Assembler Printer for LED and Beyond

Dr. Eugene Chow is a principal scientist and manager of the microsystems research group in the electronic materials and devices laboratory at PARC (a Xerox Company). PARC (www.parc.com) has been an influential innovation center for 50 years and performs research and development with various industrial and government partners. Dr. Chow’s work has focused on developing microsystems for applications in printing for manufacturing, electronics integration and biomedicine. Recent projects include micro-assembly printers for device integration, microsprings for electronics packaging and test, and microjets for drug delivery. He leads research projects at PARC with support from Xerox, other companies and the government, and has filed over 100 patents. He earned a B.S. from U.C. Berkeley in engineering physics, and did his graduate work at Stanford University (M.S. engineering management, M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering).

Current Global Patent Trend and Application Analysis for Micro LED Technology

Beginning her career as an R&D engineer in TSMC, Hsin-Ling has years of experience in patent assessment. Hsin-Ling is currently a senior patent engineer at the Technology Transfer and Law Center of ITRI, where she developed in-depth analyses on the technology evolution of micro-LED by combining documentary data, including academic publication and patent records, with the observation on the industry dynamics. Moreover, with prior knowledge of being patent examiner at Taiwan Intellectual Property Office, Hsin-Ling is particularly adept at scrutinizing the competitiveness of patent portfolio across enterprises, delivering comprehensive outlooks for technology layout.

The Future of MicroLED Displays Using Next-Generation Technologies

Wei-Sin received his B.Eng. (Hons) and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Sheffield in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He has over 15 years’ experience in the compound semiconductor industry and has held various senior technical managerial roles in GaN on Silicon technology. He has authored over 50 publications and an inventor of over 20 patents. He is currently the Director of Product Development at Plessey Semiconductors.

Hyo‐Min Kim is a Research Professor at Department of Information Display of Kyung Hee University, Seoul, Rep. of Korea. His current researches are in light-emitting devices based on Micro‐LED, QDs, Perovskite and organics for display applications. He is the author or co-author of over 45 technical publications of which over 20 are in SCI Journals such as Nanoscale, Journal of Material Chemistry, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Organic Electronics, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Optical Materials. He is currently a Manager of Advanced Display Research Center (ADRC) and was awarded Distinguished Paper Award from SID in 2015 and 2019.

MicroLED Mass Transfer for Large-area Application

Dr. Sean Chen received his PhD of Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University (2005). He focused on the study of TFT stability and epitaxy of III-V compound and quantum dot devices.
He has 10-year experience in flat panel display industry. In this period, he developed LTPS and p-i-n X-ray sensor on TFT. In addition, he is the founder of Ultra Display Technology since 2015, and the inventor of several patents of MicroLED mass transfer and bonding technologies.
