Dr. C. L. Liu received his Sc.D. degree (1962) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was on the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1962-72) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1972-98), and served as President and Professor of Computer Science at the National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan from 1998 to 2002. Dr. Chien Jen Sun received his B.S. degree in Physics form Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan in 1984, M.S. degree in Physics form National Tsing Hua University, HsinChu, Taiwan in 1986 and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois in 1994. He worked as a Senior Scientist in charge of III-Nitride based UV-Visible LED and Laser diode, Waveguide Modulator, Transistor and Detector at APA OPTIC INC., Minnesota from 1994 to 1999. Christian Geng studied at Florida Atlantic University, USA and University of Stuttgart, Germany. He received his Master Degree in Physics 1993 in Stuttgart working on MOCVD growth and characterization of AlGaInP. Extension in research experience was gained by working as a scientist on MOCVD growth of InP and related materials at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, in Padova, Italy. Returning to Germany, he resumed his work at Stuttgart University to lead the 'red laser team' and achieve a PhD degree on MOVPE growth of AlGaInP lasers. He then worked at TEMIC Telefunken Microelectronic in Heilbronn, Germany as a head engineer in charge of development and production of AlGaInP UHB-LEDs by MOVPE. In 1998, he joined AIXTRON as a Product Manager for the Asia-Pacific market and in 2001 moved to Taiwan to lead the local operations as General Manager. Today, he is Vice President Southeast Asia.

Scott Chen is the Marketing Center Deputy Director at Epistar, in charge of projection and BLU related application field (including direct-lit and edge-lit LED TVs, tablet or smart phone super bright LED display and low voltage demands). He is also in charge of management for projection related LED wafer product research management and customer strategy. Prior to Epistar, Mr. Chen was the Associate RD Director at Everlight and manager at Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute. There he was responsible for large-sized backlighting, touch devices, pico-projection module, and product development. This experience has given him in-depth knowledge about downstream technology, supply chains, and current industry development. Previously Mr. Chen was also the Project Deputy Manager at Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute. He led project groups for advancing packaging technology development for Flip-chip, CMOS Image Sensor Module, 3D-ICs, and Integrated circuit. Mr. Chen received a master degree from National Taiwan University Institute of Applied Mechanics. He has currently published 30 articles in the National Taiwan University Journal and Conference Papers. Dr. Kao Sung Ye is the current CEO of Liverage Technology, and has participated in the field of optical research throughout the early days of his career. After spending approximately 5 years working at the Industrial Technology Research Institute and another 5 years at ITRI's lighting research division, Dr. Kao went on to establish APAC Opto Electronics, which in 2002 became the first Taiwanese opto transmissions company to be listed on the Taiwanese stock exchange. In the following year, Dr. Kao founded and became the CEO of Liverage Technology. While helping Taiwan establish a leadership position in the development of optical transmission components, Dr. Kao assumed the chairman duties of the Taiwan Optical Communication Industry Alliance, and helped promote further cross-strait opportunities in 2010. Mr. Bily, Ping-Lung Wang is the current President of Executive Committee of Taiwan Optoelectronic Semiconductor Industry Association (TOSIA) and he is also the chairman of board of YoungTek Electronics Corp. (YTEC) and Harvatek Corporation (Harvatek). Mr. Wang graduated from Department of Transportation & Management of National Chiao Tung University in 1978 and then became a member of cruise ship for fulfilling his dream after two-years of military service. After spending two years at the ship he traveled around the earth twice which really opening his eyes and mind and developing his entrepreneurship of adventure, persistent and problem-solving. Coincidentally grabbing the chance, he determinedly quitted the sailor job having good salary to join the United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) as a mid-night shift Engineer working from the bottom and established the complex relationship with semiconductor industry from then on. Along with the rapid developing of UMC and industry, Mr. Wang was rapidly promoted from Engineer to Group Leader, Deputy Manager and then Manager of manufacture department of UMC before his 30-year-old. Three years later, he was further promoted as Factory Director of UMC’s relative company Unimicron Technology Corporation. Mr. Wang founded and became the CEO of YTEC in 1991, after YTEC getting its position in the industry he noticed the evolution of LED package technology and believed that the future is great so he founded and became the CEO of Harvatek in the new LED area boldly. While helping Taiwan establish a leadership position in the development of LED, Mr. Wang assumed the President duties of the TOSIA, and helped promote further cross-strait cooperation opportunities in March of this year.
